A spectacular birds eye view of Downing College
Cambridge Filmworks have taken to the skies over central Cambridge to film spectacular aerial views of the magnificent Downing College.
Downing College sits amidst 20 acres of lawns and trees and yet it is within half a mile of the historic centre of Cambridge. The buildings date back to the beginning of the 19th century and are predominantly neo-classical in style conveying a sense of elegance and spaciousness. Founded in 1800, it was the only college to be added to Cambridge University between 1596 and 1869, and is often described as the oldest of the new colleges and the newest of the old.
It is home to a lively and diverse scholarly community, including about 420 undergraduates, 220 graduates and 53 fellows, supported by over 130 staff. Famous Downing Alumni include John Cleese, Thandie Newton, Sir Trevor Nunn and The Avengers author Martin Woodhouse!
