New National Animation Campaign for Being Safe Around Dogs

Cambridge Filmworks have partnered with the Pet Education Partnership to produce a brand new animation for their national campaign Being Safe Around Dogs.

The Pet Education Partnership (PEP) is a collaboration between eight of the leading animal welfare charities in the UK: Blue Cross, Cats Protection, Dogs Trust, PDSA, RSPCA, SSPCA, USPCA and Woodgreen. Their shared vision is to make animal welfare education accessible to every child aged between 5 and 11 in the UK, with the ultimate goal of incorporating it into the curriculum.

Being Safe Around Dogs is a fun, educational animation designed to help children and families learn simple steps to stay safe around dogs. Whether at home, in the park, or visiting friends, our video teaches how to be calm, kind, and confident around our four-legged friends.

This is an engaging and age-appropriate animation designed to help children learn how to interact safely and respectfully with dogs in a variety of everyday situations. Created with input from animal welfare experts and educators, this resource supports key areas of PSHE, health and wellbeing and citizenship education.

Through relatable scenarios, at home, in the park, or out in the community, children are taught simple, memorable strategies for staying safe around dogs. The animation reinforces the importance of calm, kind behaviour and helps pupils build confidence in making safe choices when encountering dogs.

Perfect for use in assemblies, classroom lessons, or as part of a wider unit on safety or caring for animals, this resource encourages empathy, responsibility, and awareness. Teacher support materials, discussion prompts, and follow-up activities are available to extend learning and spark meaningful classroom conversations.
