Capturing the Heart of Cambridge: Filming the Bidwells 10K for Muscular Dystrophy UK
Cambridge Filmworks have partnered with Muscular Dystrophy UK and Bidwells to capture the Bidwells Cambridge 10K – an event defined by community spirit, resilience, and the unmistakable energy of Cambridge itself.
Race day transformed Cambridge into a living, breathing celebration of movement and meaning. Thousands of runners flowed through the heart of the city, passing iconic landmarks, historic University college buildings, and the timeless beauty of the River Cam. Lining the route, cheering crowds brought the city together. Friends, families, and supporters united to raise vital funds and awareness for people living with muscle-wasting conditions.
To do justice to the scale and emotion of the day, our crews captured the event from every angle:
• On the ground, our cameras were embedded in the action – close up to the runners, the supporters, and the volunteers – capturing raw moments of determination, encouragement, and joy.
• In the air, dramatic aerial drone filming revealed the full spectacle: rivers of runners weaving through Cambridge’s historic streets, framed by centuries-old architecture and open green spaces.
• And uniquely, through a dedicated runner-cam. One of our Cambridge Filmworks team ran the race alongside participants, wearing a chest-mounted camera to give viewers an authentic runner’s-eye view. The sound of footsteps, the rhythm of breathing, the roar of the crowd – this perspective placed audiences right in the heart of the race.
Together, these viewpoints allowed us to tell a story that felt immersive, human, and real.
We’re incredibly proud to have worked alongside Muscular Dystrophy UK and Bidwells. This collaboration reminded us why we do what we do: to tell stories that inspire action, build connection, and leave a lasting positive mark.
The Cambridge 10K is more than a run. It’s a statement of support, hope, and momentum – and we were honoured to capture it, one step at a time!
