Barlow Tyrie: Award Winning Garden Furniture

Barlow Tyrie: Award Winning Garden Furniture

It’s 100 years since Barlow Tyrie started as a specialist manufacturer of teak wood outdoor furniture. They are known and respected worldwide, having progressed from humble beginnings in an East London stable, to be the oldest remaining manufacturer of this very traditional English product.

Manufacturing since 1920, Barlow Tyrie remain a family business in its third generation with directors Peter Tyrie and his sons, Mark and James managing the company.  They have always specialized in the manufacture of high quality teak furniture to which more recently we have added products in stainless steel, powder-coated aluminium, Eucalyptus, and hand-woven synthetic fibre.  These new ranges have proved very successful and feature strongly in the current Barlow Tyrie collection; however the expert use of top-grade teak remains at the heart of their business and with demand for quality teak furniture on the rise, its use can be seen in several of their new ranges.

The development of their furniture benefits from Barlow Tyrie’s manufacturing knowledge and experience to give products that are constructed to the highest standard.  They only use the finest materials available, which are tested and approved to any appropriate British Standard for safety and strength.  The Barlow Tyrie range of furniture includes many pieces that have won international design awards and are frequently copied classics.

Barlow Tyrie have diversified in recent years developing collections in a variety of quality materials, which we combine with both traditional and innovative construction methods.  Their designers and craftsmen are creating ‘modern-classics’ with the quality, style and comfort that has become the hallmark of the Barlow Tyrie ethos.
