Fen Skating Documentary!

The Hunts Post: Hunts documentary film on national TV! Richard Millen and Cambridge Filmworks colleague, Adam Giles’s, programme The Shop That Time Forgot is about J H Adams and Sons Ironmongers of Littleport and its role in British ice skating.

It will be shown on Sky and Virgin’s Community Channel at 7pm. In the one-hour long Heritage Lottery-funded documentary, the filmmakers talk to residents and the last owners of the shop, which was a main stockist of speed skates in the UK and the only franchise to import Norwegian Hagen speed skates, to chronicle the store’s history.

Mr Millen, said: “It’s a Pandora’s box, a unique window into the past. Little has changed since Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897.

“In the film we uncovered some intriguing local stories, in particular while interviewing Norris Museum curator Bob Burn-Murdoch, we discovered how important Fen skating was. Even express trains from London were laid on to bring the masses to the Fens to view Fen skaters racing.”

INFORMATION: A DVD of The Shop That Time Forgot is available from the Norris Museum in St Ives
